The Secret Place: the Birthplace of Visions and Fulfillment of Destinies

Psalms 91:1 'He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.'

Almost every Christian and some non-Christians know this famous 911 emergency number highlighted in the anchor verse in the book of Psalms. We might have recited it once or twice when faced with a situation as a means to summon courage to face a storm. Unknown to us, this Psalms has some terms and conditions attached. These terms and conditions is the reason for writing this post. I pray the mind of your understanding be enlightened as you read.  

What's the secret place?

The secret place is an unavoidable furnace where visions and destinies are built. If Daniel didn't have a secret place experience you'll agree with me that the Iranian lions would have made a good meal out of his Jewish flesh. The temperature of the secret place experience is what enabled Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to withstand the heat of Nebuchadnezzar's furnace. David's secret place experience with his harp is the reason why he was summoned to the palace and his secret place experience with his sling is the reason why he knew he could reduce Goliath to worm food.

If you think about the secret place, you will be ignorant to think it's only Christians that are built in the secret place. I do believe this is not your first time to hear about secret cults or secret meetings. What do you think happens in such groups or meetings? What we miss is that the secret place is a place of discipline where the determined build and tests their plans to do good or evil. If you are not resilient enough, you won't be able to survive the necessary pressure that comes with or from the secret place. So many youths admires and wishes to have the lifestyles of musicians, bloggers, athletes, political leaders, even fraudsters. But what they fail to understand is that every medal, every award, every public celebrations and accolades came from the resilience built in the secret place. See this life is a system, and every system is based on 3 models: input, process, and output. The secret place is the process phase that refines and transforms every vision, either good or bad.

I said good or bad because some secret place experiences are based on the shedding of innocent bloods, while some secret place experiences are based on a mosaic experience of being in the presence of God without food and water for 40 days, drawing up a template for godly living for a lost world and impatient people.

The secret place is where the price for the prize of the public celebration is paid. It is where deals are made with higher powers seeking support for the fulfillment of visions and destinies. Think about Hushpuppi, the famous Nigerian prince who exploited the gaps in the intelligence of the American government before he was nabbed, think about what he did with his secret place. He must have had countless restless hours typing frantically seeking for his next victim(s). While most are sleeping, He must have sacrificed numerous night times and day times for the short era he had as a prince in Dubai. Please don't misconstrue the Hushpuppi example as a legitimacy to perpetrate evil, no matter how long it takes light will always shine for nothing is hidden under the sun (Eccl 1:9). Think about Usain Bolt, his secret place experience included thousands of hours fine-tuning his speedometer before becoming the fastest man on earth Think about celebrated instrumentalists and opera singers, who practice for countless hours perfecting a 30 minutes show.

The secret place is not a place where one sleeps, and relaxes with the expectation of things brought to us by a shackled genie. The secret place is where people with dreams and divine assignment discover the way to accomplish their assignments. The secret place is not for the faintest of hearts. On the contrary, it is a place where character is formed and pruned. It is where the motives behind the visions are tested before the output is unveiled to the general public. You can see so many people (celebrities) and wish you could exchange places with them. Nevertheless, until you can endure the pain they went through in their secret place, your wish are nothing but wishful thinking.

The secret place is where plans are made either of attrition or attractions. For when men sleeps, the enemy that understands the significance of the secret place tirelessly sows tares among the wheat sown by the unwatchfuls (Matt 13:25).

To wrap up this post, I want to pose these questions to you: what do you do in your secret place? What does secret place mean to you? Think about Elon Musk, do you think he sleeps 8 hours straight? Do you think he wasted his time and money on frivolity and got to where he is today? We have detrimentally confused people who are diligent in building a solid experience in the secret place to just being lucky. Yes you might be justified by saying some of them were lucky, but their luck was supported by their consistence and persistence in the secret place refining their crafts.

So you want to be the next superstar? You want the world to recognize you? You desire to be applauded by men or you simply desire to be favoured by God and men (Prov 3:4). So you want God to give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places as promised in Isaiah 45:3. However, until you are willing to burn the candles and build a relationship with Him in the secret place those wishes are nothing but wishful thinkings. Yes, we can talk about the position and existence of grace which we have erroneously interpreted as unmerited favour until that puzzle was set right by AJS in his sermon 'this grace called favour'. For nobody enjoyed favour more than Abraham, David, Daniel and my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Even they had to build a divine relationship with God in the secret place. My charge is that you trim your lamps like the 5 wise virgins and build a relationship in the secret place with the bridegroom so as to partake in the wedding feast of His glory both here on earth and in the new Jerusalem.
