If anyone partook of the fresh outpouring at the just concluded WOFBEC 2024,you would have understood that this topic was definitely inspired by the Holy Spirit. For to run the race in 2024, we are required to traverse the year on the ship of faith. If faith according to the Holy Spirit inspired definition is the core substance to materialize our hopes and expectations, lack of it therefore can be termed as substance abuse. We proceed with the topic of faith with verse 6 of the famous Hebrews 11.
V6. Faith enables us to live a life that brings pleasure to God. Which can only be accomplished when we disregard our cerebral ability in total surrender to God. For this verse explained that those who come to God the Father must get any question or doubt about His existence and love out of our mind and support the unchallengeable notion that God exists. His existence and the place of His existence is beyond what our human mind can fathom. For it is written that God dwells in unapproachable light (I Tim 6v16), you need to believe me when I say this, your human eyes is not strong enough to behold the presence of God, you will simply vaporize or dissipate. So does our human mind is too little to comprehend His existence. We just simply have to believe that He is. Once we have fulfilled this first task then we will get the reward attached as described at the end of V6 that the faithfulness of God is revealed to and in not just in those who seek Him but in those who adds diligence to their pursuit of God.
V7: faith is a visionary force. Through faith Noah whose name meant motion was divinely set in motion to build an ark to save the remnant of his age from the global destruction or in our new day analogy from global crisis of his days. It was noted that Noah was pre-warned before the impending doom of condemnation hit the earth. Which confirms our reality for it is written in Romans 8:1 (NMV) that [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Moshiach [Messiah] Yeshua [God is Salvation], who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit [Ruach]. For faith is truly needed to walk after the Spirit and not the flesh in a bloodthirsty, warmongering and flesh-lusting world. You see how interwoven the fabric of faith is.
V8: Faith triggers a call to true inheritance. This verse highlighted Abraham's response to the call of faith. This reflects the importance of the diligence recommended in V6 to our response to God's call. Which depicts that until one answers the call of God with diligence and obedience the inheritance we hope to receive will only manifest as a mere thought of our hearts without it being translated into physical reality. This also confirms that we need to move beyond questioning God's existence to just believing in His Omnipotence so we can obtain the inheritance promised by God as a reward of those who seek Him diligently.
V9: faith enables one to remain firm and immovable holding on to God's promises when others are infected with the Japa syndrome this will be well understood by the Nigerian society. This verse points to the importance of a devout relationship with God that we can easily understand when He is talking to us and also obeying every instructions given through the Holy Spirit despite the popular trend in our society. We need strong faith to obey God totally. I might have one or two testimonies to share about hearing the voice of God, but for want of space I will only share one.
My Heb 11v9 testimony
As most would know that I spent over a decade of my existence in South Africa. I finished my studies (Masters degree) in 2013, but getting a job was totally difficult. Unknown to me, my Masters thesis supervisor submitted my thesis at a conference in Japan. Which with the support of my sister I went to present at the conference in Japan. I won't load us with what transpired at the conference which is smoothed importance of hearing God's voice. So I will say from the conference in Japan I was invited to Germany as a guest researcher, which fulfills my childhood dream of being a researcher. The point of the testimony is that 2 months after getting to Germany. I got two job offers back in South Africa, and I can say those offers were very lucrative, because the smallest would have paid me 3 times the salary I was receiving in Germany. However, during a time of seeking God's face on the right decision to take, I got a sound word that I should stay in Germany. Trust me, I protested, I even went as far as telling the Spirit of the Lord to do the maths that my tithe would increase by 300%. But our God is not a man to lie or to be convinced by our mortal reasoning. His No was final. The earlier I accepted the better for me. To be honest I grudgingly and joyfully accepted. Now looking back to that time, I can only say that He knows best. It is to our advantage if we seek Him and obey His voice irrespective of what is being said or done in our environment or by our peers. You might want to read about Isaac's experience in Gen 26.
I will leave you to read Gen 26, while I prepare for my weekend and the next post on the series of Faith.
Till next week, I wish you a very blessed weekend.
Shalom aleichem brothers and sisters.
