II Cor 5 vs18 (NKJV) says 'Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.'
You can also read from II Cor 5 vs 17-21 to get a full picture.
The topic on reconciliation, which the Bible through the inspiration on Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Corinthians shows that reconciliation is necessary and a ministry on it is own. Through this piece I will by the grace of God attempt to answer some questions. Enjoy as you read.
What is reconciliation?
Reconciliation is defined as the restoration of peaceful relationship between two or more people.
Why should one reconcile?
Would you agree with me that If there was no disagreement there wouldn't be the need for reconciliation. It is due to the existence of disagreement that one needs to be reconciled with the other entity(ies). Reconciliation only exists in the world of the living and the world of the thinking because there's no reconciliation to nonliving things. There's no reconciliation in the animal kingdom because they are not equipped with the ability to think. For them it is the survival of the fittest. Neither is there reconciliation in the land of the dead, because their end has finally come. It is only the living the can experience this act of reconciliation, which is why the Bible says there's hope for a dead tree to sprout again as long as it remains in the ground (Job 14 v 7-9).
To whom should one be reconciled?
The answer is to Jehovah Elohim God The Father the sovereign King of glory. The ministry of reconciliation is the raison d'être of Yeshua Hamashiach The Lord Kurios. That's the essence of His 33 years sojourn on our side of the earth, and 3 years of intense labour filled with ridicules, betrayal and alas humiliation on the cross.
What is the cause of man's disagreement with God?
Sin is the cause of this disagreement. Since it took a three lettered word (sin) to start our disagreement, it can only take another three lettered word to resolve the disagreement and that's His Son.
What is the source of this disagreement?
The source of this disagreement is jealousy and greed which emanated when Lucifer wished he would be higher than the Almighty. Which resulted in his forceful eviction from the throne room of grace, which means there's no more mercy for him. Lucifer now seeing that there's no more mercy for him is bent on an eternal and perilous agenda to corrupt God's work through the thing He loved the most, which is we humans. So you see how one being's insatiable hunger for frivolities resulted in the decadence we now experience as mortals. For from the beginning it was not so.
If God is as powerful as we say He is why is He asking and yearning for reconciliation with us?
Please understand me clearly, that God could have chosen to act in any other ways. That wouldn't have diminished His power, position and authority. He could have acted as a lion with brute force, destroying and punishing us at every interval of our sinful expeditions.
If God had come to us as the Lion of Judah which He truly is, trust me there wouldn't be a need to compel us for reconciliation, for lion moves and acts with authority. Lions has always been considered as the symbol of power, bravery, courage, strength fearlessness and ferocity. So He chose to not use pride, for lions are known to dwell in their pride. He chose not to use power and brute force to compel us. If He had done that He would have been tagged as bully, which He is not. Job 34:10 (NIV) says 'Far be it from God to do evil, from the Almighty to do wrong.' Since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit we humans now have the knowledge to choose our actions whether good or evil. By choosing, we also suffer the consequences thereof (Roman 6v23). Our ability to know the different between good and evil means we have freewill. Hence, the reason God chose not to forcefully compel us but to use His other trait as a Lamb.
Because of His love for you and me, He chose to come humbly as a Lamb, for only as a lamb could He have perfectly shown us how much love He has for us, and only by sacrificing Himself as a lamb could He have expressed to us the extent He is willing to go to make us aware how far we have gone from Him and how He yearns for a devoted relationship with us mortals. Lamb symbolizes gentleness, innocence, and purity. Hence, the reason He remains standing at the door, not bored or idle, but gently and actively knocking to see if you and I will see His genuine heart and expression of love and open up to Him so He can come not to rebuke us or castigate us but to dine and fellowship with us (Rev 3v20).
Why does He love us this much?
To be honest, I can't tell you why He loves us so, even John the beloved the only known mortal to have experienced the God kind of love, was so baffled to the point of marvel that he screamed 'what manner of love is this!' (I John 3v1) and he further expressed that there's no better way love has been expressed in the history of the human race than through a selfless act of sacrifice. Now please don't quote me wrong by sacrificing to idols and false altars, for that will only deepen the disagreement. I guess we can all leave this matter till we get to see Him face to face. But the truth of the matter is that Agape Father loves us so much that's why through His grace He sent His only begotten Son to come reconcile us to Himself so we can properly fellowship with Him through His Spirit (II Cor 13v14).
Final remark
Now that you know of His love for you, what should you do? Would you rather carry on maintaining your perilous loggerhead with God? Or would you make a U turn and humbly embrace the arms open so wide on the cross of calvary it could be wrapped around all worlds over again and again and again till infinitum.
The scripture says while it is said, “Today [while there is still opportunity] if you hear His voice, Do not harden your heart, as when they provoked Me [in the rebellion in the desert at Meribah].” (Hebrews 3:15 Amp)). So I beseech you brethren be reconciled with Him today so you can dwell with Him at His throne room of grace for sound mercy to abound. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12), I stand here to say that that name is a strong tower which shields and saves the righteous (Prov 18v10), and that that name is JESUS Who has been given all authorities and dominions in heaven above, on earth beneath and over other entities beneath the earth (Phil 2 v 10-11, Matt 28v18).
Shalom aleichem brethren
